Swiss honeymoon hotel Chiang Mai in Thailand is closing down and will open a Chinese restaurant for guests.
Chiang Mai was the world’s most popular honeymoon destination, with more than one million guests visiting the seaside city last year.
Now, the Chiang Mang Mai restaurant, which will be opened in a hotel next month, will be a Chinese-style restaurant serving fresh, organic, seasonal food.
A spokesperson for Chiang Miao told the AFP news agency the restaurant will offer a full range of Chinese cuisine, including fresh vegetables, seafood and seafood dishes, in addition to traditional Chinese dishes.
It will be open from June 10.
The spokesperson said the restaurant is in its final stages of planning and that it will reopen in late July.
In May, Chiang’s tourism agency said the city’s honeymoons are on track to exceed the 10 million visitors mark.
More: Chiangmai’s population grew by nearly 20 per cent to over 7 million in 2016, as more tourists sought to experience the city.
The number of visitors has increased by more than 60 per cent over the past five years, and the tourist sector has boomed in recent years.
